House and Peas, free house music in the forest

House and Peas is the most unique event on the cultural calendar of Clamart (92140). Organized by the City of Clamart, this entirely free festival brings together a selection of artists from the international house music and dub scene each year for a night of outdoor dancing, on the edge of the Clamart forest. Its name—a play on words between 'house and peace' and the town's pea fields—says it all about its mischievous and convivial spirit.

A unique setting: the stadium in the forest

The festival is held at the Stade Municipal de la Plaine, on Avenue Claude Trébignaud in Clamart. This sports venue, nestled between large lawns and the trees of the first hectares of the Clamart forest, offers a striking setting for an electronic music festival: trees everywhere, a lawn as a dancefloor, and the city fading away a few hundred meters away. The promise is kept: 'good electronic music, trees everywhere, and 100% free'.

The organizers have designed an outdoor stage setup that transforms the stadium into an open-air club. The sound and technical quality are on par with the best Parisian nights, without a single ticket to pay.

A high-caliber house lineup curated by ODELA

The musical programming of House and Peas is entirely entrusted to ODELA, an artistic programming and production structure specializing in quality electronic music. ODELA has built a reputation for selecting artists who are both discerning and accessible, capable of making a wide audience dance without ever sacrificing musical exploration.

Each edition features about ten artists and groups. The inaugural edition—which helped launch the festival—included sets by Chez Damier, an absolute legend of Chicago house music, Uppermost in a live performance, Waajeed, a figure of Detroit Techno, Paul Cut, a London-based soul-house DJ and producer, and several other artists from the global electronic scene. The parties start in the early evening and continue until dawn, with a musical progression from funky grooves to the deeper textures of deep house and dub.

Beyond music: exhibitions and performances

House and Peas is not just a music festival. Each edition also features art exhibitions, visual performances, and installations within the stadium grounds. Visual arts, video, and street arts dialogue with the music to create a total, coherent, and immersive experience. Food trucks complete the setup to keep festival-goers supplied throughout the night.

A free festival, a strong commitment

The freeness of House and Peas is a deliberate political choice by the City of Clamart. It signifies that quality electronic music is not reserved for those who can afford club nights or paid festivals. It states that the Clamart forest is a common space, and that dancing and celebration are collective goods. In a festival landscape where prices are soaring, this free, nocturnal, and artistically ambitious offering is a rare gift.
