Edition 2026

Imperial Truffle — edition 2026

The town of Châtillon-sur-Seine has not yet announced the date for the 2026 edition of the Fête de la Truffe Impériale. The Pays Châtillonnais Tourist Office notes that the festival typically takes place on the last Saturday of October. Previous editions: October 28, 2023, October 26, 2024, and October 25, 2025.

2026 Edition

As of mid-August 2026, neither the date nor the program for the upcoming Fête de la Truffe Impériale has been released. The town of Châtillon-sur-Seine, which organizes the event, usually publishes the official poster in late September: it was released on September 26 for the 2024 edition and September 24 for the 2025 edition.

The Pays Châtillonnais Tourist Office states that the festival is held "every last Saturday of October" in Châtillon-sur-Seine. The three editions held to date have all fallen on that day: October 28, 2023, October 26, 2024, and October 25, 2025.

Previous editions have followed a consistent format: a gastronomic competition for scrambled eggs with Burgundy truffles across three categories (Chefs, Rising Stars, and Amateurs), a truffle market regulated by the Truffes 21-71 association, a local producers' and artisans' market, free autumn-themed creative workshops, truffle hunting demonstrations, lectures, and induction ceremonies by the Confrérie de la Truffe de Bourgogne. Free admission, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the salle polyvalente Luc Schréder.

Celebrating the Burgundy Truffle

Established in 2023, the Fête de la Truffe Impériale celebrates the Burgundy truffle (Tuber uncinatum), a subterranean fungus that thrives in the limestone forests of the Châtillonnais, right in the heart of the Parc national de forêts. The event is hosted by the City of Châtillon-sur-Seine in partnership with the Pays Châtillonnais Tourist Office, the Truffes 21-71 association—which oversees the truffle market—and the Confrérie de la Truffe de Bourgogne.

The festival's name draws from the "Ville impériale" label awarded to Châtillon-sur-Seine in 2020, referencing a truffle-based banquet prepared for the Emperor during his visit to the town in 1805, where he was hosted by his friend, Marshal Marmont.

A Culinary Competition Like No Other

The highlight of the day is the Burgundy truffle scrambled egg gastronomic competition, the only one of its kind in France, featuring three categories: Professionals, Rising Stars, and Amateurs. The jury is comprised of renowned chefs and experts from the truffle industry.

Market, Workshops, and Truffle Hunting

Alongside the competition, visitors can explore a fresh truffle market and a local producers' market featuring around twenty artisans and ten truffle growers. The program also includes free, drop-in autumn creative workshops, truffle hunting demonstrations, lectures, and induction ceremonies by the Confrérie de la Truffe de Bourgogne. On-site catering is available.
