La Forgeronne: Eurville-Bienville's Nature Trail

Created in 2020 by the association Eurville-Bienville Trail 52 (EB Trail 52), La Forgeronne has become in a few editions one of the essential sporting events in Haute-Marne. Organized every year in September, this nature run and trail invites runners of all levels to discover the rolling and wooded landscapes surrounding the commune of Eurville-Bienville, in the heart of the 52 department.

Courses for All Profiles

The event comes in several formats, allowing everyone to find the race that suits them:

  • Le Marteau (22 km, 600 m D+): the main event, a technical and demanding trail that winds through forests, hollow paths, and hills of the Haute-Marne countryside. A real challenge for seasoned trail runners.
  • Le Soufflet (11 km, 170 m D+): a discovery format accessible to beginner or intermediate runners, ideal for a first experience in nature running while enjoying beautiful landscapes.
  • La Soufflette (11 km, 150 m D+): a Nordic walking event using part of the Soufflet course, with a staggered start. Perfect for walkers who want to participate in the day's atmosphere.
  • La Trempe (2 km): children's race for 10-13 year olds, a fun and safe course.
  • La Trempette (1 km): children's race for 7-9 year olds, to introduce the youngest to the pleasure of outdoor running.

Strong Local Roots

The name La Forgeronne echoes the industrial and metallurgical heritage of the Eurville-Bienville region, a land of foundries and forges. Each race name—Le Marteau, Le Soufflet, La Trempe—draws from the vocabulary of forging, creating an original identity deeply rooted in the territory. The EB Trail 52 association, made up of passionate volunteers, works throughout the year to prepare the event and promote trail running in the department.

A Growing Event

Since its creation, La Forgeronne has continuously gained popularity. The 2024 edition, the fifth of its name, brought together over 210 finishers across all distances, confirming the growing enthusiasm for this human-sized event. The capacity is limited to 400 runners for the two main races to ensure the safety and quality of the experience for each participant.

Aid Stations and Semi-Self-Sufficiency

The races are held in semi-self-sufficiency, with two aid stations on each adult course: one at the halfway point and one at the finish. Children's races have an aid station at the finish. Runners are invited to bring their own water supply in addition to the refreshments provided by the organization.

La Forgeronne — edition 2026
