Festival of creation circus and in situ dance in Aveyron
La Grande Confluence is a festival of creation circus and in situ dance organized by L'Essieu du Batut, an artist residency center dedicated to movement arts based in Murols, in northern Aveyron. Every summer, the festival takes over the confluence of the Lot and Truyère rivers in Entraygues-sur- Truyère to offer shows between aerial circus and sensitive dance, in a poetic dialogue with the landscape.
Born in 2020, La Grande Confluence is a unique festival that combines creation circus and in situ dance in the spectacular setting of the confluence of the Lot and Truyère rivers, at the foot of the castle of Entraygues-sur-Truyère. Supported by L'Essieu du Batut, an artist residency center dedicated to movement arts based in Murols for over ten years, this festival invites the public to experience an artistic event where body languages dialogue with the landscape.
The programming of La Grande Confluence oscillates between the sensitive and the spectacular, between aerial circus and delicate dance. The invited companies present creations that are in turn philosophical, poetic, burlesque and playful, resonating with the magnificent landscape of the Confluent. The shows are designed to adapt to venues not dedicated to performing arts, making the territory itself an open-air stage.
While L'Essieu du Batut is based in Murols, the festival mainly unfolds at the Confluent in Entraygues-sur-Truyère, where the Lot and Truyère rivers meet. The program mixes circus shows, choreographic creations, film screenings, intergenerational workshops, popular balls, and landscape readings. The confluence evokes the meeting of rivers as much as the meeting of artists, audiences, and cultural partners.
La Grande Confluence is part of the mission of L'Essieu du Batut: to support artistic creation and participate in the cultural life of Nord Aveyron. By choosing circus and dance works adapted to unconventional spaces, the festival offers rural audiences an encounter with contemporary performing arts in all its excellence and diversity.
The 6th edition of La Grande Confluence is announced for early July 2026 at the Confluent in Entraygues-sur-Truyère. Creation circus and in situ dance shows in the setting of the Lot and Truyère river confluence. Program to be announced.
