Intergenerational street arts festival in the medieval bastide of Hastingues
The Parade des 5 Sens is a unique street arts festival that takes place annually in the medieval bastide of Hastingues, in the south of the Landes department. Founded in 1999 by the association Les Amis du Carcoilh, this festival celebrated its quarter-century and has established itself as a major cultural event in the south of the Landes.
Hastingues is a medieval bastide founded in the 13th century, perched on a promontory overlooking the Gaves Réunis. Its cobbled alleys, half-timbered houses, shaded squares, and ramparts offer an exceptional setting for street arts. For two days, the bastide transforms into a vast open-air theater where every street corner holds a surprise.
Each edition of La Parade des 5 Sens hosts more than fifteen professional companies from all over France. Street theater, circus, dance, music, puppetry, comedy shows, visual arts, and participatory performances follow one another and intersect in the bastide's spaces, offering a rich and eclectic program suitable for all audiences.
True to its name, the festival organizes its programming around the theme of the five senses. Sight is engaged through art exhibitions and visual shows. Hearing is enchanted by concerts and sound creations. Touch is explored during participatory workshops. Taste is celebrated through tastings of local Landes products and convivial meals. Smell is awakened by olfactory activities and natural scents.
One of the unique aspects of La Parade des 5 Sens is its entirely volunteer organization. Members of the association Les Amis du Carcoilh work throughout the year to prepare the festival, from programming to logistics, including welcoming companies and the public. This volunteer commitment gives the festival an authentic and warm atmosphere.
The festival traditionally takes place on July 13th and 14th, taking advantage of the national holiday weekend to bring together a large, intergenerational audience. From the youngest to the oldest, everyone finds something to enjoy in the diversity of shows and activities offered.
The 26th edition of La Parade des 5 Sens takes place on July 13 and 14, 2026, in the medieval bastide of Hastingues (Landes). An intergenerational street arts festival, it takes over the streets, alleys, squares, and monuments of the village with about fifty shows, concerts, parades, sensory workshops, exhibitions, and tastings, organized by the association Les Amis du Carcoilh.
For its 26th edition, La Parade des 5 Sens once again transforms the medieval bastide of Hastingues into a vast artistic playground on July 13 and 14, 2026. For two days, the streets, squares, gardens, monuments, and unusual places of the village host professional companies, musicians, dancers, and visual artists for an exploration of the five senses through street arts.
The program combines street theater, circus, musical parades, concerts, choirs, sensory installations, workshops, and floral creations, in a family-friendly and intergenerational atmosphere (shows from 6 months old). The festival opens on the evening of July 13 and runs all day on July 14, until late into the night.
Hastingues is located in the south of Les Landes, 35 km east of Bayonne (31 min via the A64, Peyrehorade exit, then Hastingues); and 28 km south of Dax (34 min via the D29).

The nearest train station is Peyrehorade, approximately 5 km away, served by the TER Bayonne-Dax line. From the station, it is possible to reach Hastingues by taxi or carpooling.
The festival takes place throughout the medieval bastide of Hastingues. Performances take over the narrow streets, squares, woods, village hall, and heritage sites of the bastide, creating an open-air artistic journey.
The festival takes place over two days, July 13 and 14. Shows and activities begin on July 13 from 5 PM and on July 14 from 10:30 AM and continue into the evening.
