Summer on the banks of the Meurthe between Nancy and Tomblaine
La Plage des 2 Rives is a summer event by the Métropole du Grand Nancy that transforms the banks of the Meurthe, between Nancy, Tomblaine, and Saint-Max, into a vast relaxation area with swimming, sports, culture, and leisure. From July to the end of August, the guinguettes, outdoor pools, concerts, sports activities, and relaxation areas welcome residents for a festive summer by the water. Created in 2021, this urban beach has become a must-attend event in the metropolis.
La Plage des 2 Rives is a flagship summer event of the Métropole du Grand Nancy that transforms the banks of the Meurthe every summer into a vast space for relaxation, swimming, and leisure. Spread between Nancy, Tomblaine, and Saint-Max, the event offers a complete range of free or low-cost activities for all ages for two months.
La Plage des 2 Rives is organized into seven distinct areas along the river, each offering a specific atmosphere and activities:
Outdoor pools allow safe swimming by the Meurthe. Water activities and water games complement the aquatic offerings, providing a true seaside break in the heart of the city.
Two guinguettes — one on the Nancy side and one on the Tomblaine side — offer food, drinks, and a festive atmosphere. The Nancy side guinguette opens on June 1st, followed by the Tomblaine one in mid-June, extending the summer experience well beyond the swimming season.
The Olympic Village offers various sports introductions, including an urban surfing structure, sports fields, and activities for the whole family. Sports educators supervise the sessions, allowing everyone to try new disciplines.
Concerts, shows, and cultural events punctuate the summer evenings. Ecological areas raise public awareness about the preservation of the river environment, with participatory workshops and bank greening projects.
La Plage des 2 Rives is part of the major development project for the banks of the Meurthe led by the Métropole du Grand Nancy. By making the banks accessible and attractive, the event contributes to the river's reclamation by residents and its transformation into a living space in its own right.
Since its creation in 2021, La Plage des 2 Rives has attracted an ever-growing audience. The 2026 edition marks the sixth consecutive year of this event, which has become a must-attend summer event in Nancy, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each season.
