Summer on the banks of the Meurthe between Nancy and Tomblaine
La Plage des 2 Rives is a flagship summer event of the Métropole du Grand Nancy that transforms the banks of the Meurthe each summer into a vast area for relaxation, swimming, and leisure. Spread between Nancy, Tomblaine, and Saint-Max, the initiative offers a complete range of free or low-cost activities for all ages for two months.
La Plage des 2 Rives is organized into seven distinct zones spread along the river, each offering a specific atmosphere and activities:
Outdoor swimming pools allow safe bathing by the Meurthe. Water activities and games complement the aquatic offerings, providing a true seaside break in the heart of the city.
Two guinguettes — on the Nancy side and the Tomblaine side — offer food, drinks, and a festive atmosphere. The guinguette on the Nancy side opens in early June, followed by the one in Tomblaine in mid-June, extending the summer experience well beyond the full opening period.
On the Beach on the Nancy side (Prairie de la Méchelle), Le Facteur Musique and L'Autre Canal offer a series of free open-air concerts featuring regional artists. Festival-goers enjoy musical performances with their feet in the sand, in a unique summer atmosphere.
The Olympic Village offers a variety of sports introductions, including an urban surf structure, sports fields, and activities for the whole family. Sports instructors supervise the sessions to allow everyone to try new disciplines.
La Plage des 2 Rives is part of the vast Meurthe riverbanks development project led by the Métropole du Grand Nancy. By making the banks accessible and attractive, the event contributes to the residents' reclamation of the river and the transformation of this space into a full-fledged living area.
Since its creation in 2021, La Plage des 2 Rives has attracted an ever-growing audience. The 2026 edition marks the sixth consecutive year of this event, which has become an unmissable summer fixture in Nancy, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each season.
