About La Pleine Lune

The La Pleine Lune Festival was an open-air music event held every summer in the vicinity of Payzac, in southern Ardèche, from 1998 to 2012. Organized by the L'Art Scène association, the festival offered an eclectic program mixing world music, dub, reggae, and electro in exceptional natural sites. A festival in the heart of Ardèche nature

The La Pleine Lune Festival was a summer music event held annually around Payzac, in southern Ardèche, from 1998 to 2012. Created by the L'Art Scène association, this atypical festival took over exceptional natural sites — clearings, valleys, and mountains — to offer open-air concerts in an enchanting setting. La Pleine Lune stood out for its original format, structured around two main highlights: the Quartiers de Lune and the final weekend.

The Quartiers de Lune: itinerant concerts

During the first half of July, the Quartiers de Lune offered a series of decentralized concerts in the communes and hamlets of southern Ardèche. These evenings allowed attendees to discover national and international artists in atypical locations: village squares, wine estates, preserved natural sites. This itinerant format created a strong link between music and the territory, inviting festival-goers to explore the landscape and heritage richness of southern Ardèche.

The final weekend: dub, reggae, and electro

The highlight of the festival was the grand weekend, which gathered several thousand festival-goers around open-air stages in Payzac and its surroundings. The program featured world music, dub, reggae, and electro, with thematic evenings such as the legendary 100% International Dub night that built the festival's reputation. Sound systems and DJ sets mingled with live concerts, creating a unique atmosphere somewhere between a music festival and a supervised free party.

An alternative and friendly spirit

La Pleine Lune cultivated an alternative spirit, prioritizing conviviality, respect for the environment, and accessibility. The festival offered on-site camping, local and artisanal catering, as well as relaxation areas in nature. This event managed to build a loyal and passionate audience, attached to the special atmosphere of these Ardèche musical nights under the stars, where music resonated in the hills of Vivarais.

The end of an adventure

After fifteen years of existence and thirteen editions, the La Pleine Lune Festival ceased in 2012. The financial difficulties encountered by the L'Art Scène association since 2010 could not be overcome: the 2011 edition did not improve the situation, and the association was placed into receivership in 2013. The festival, which had become over the years an unmissable event for fans of contemporary music in Ardèche, did not find a successor to continue the adventure. If a new edition were to be organized in the future, this page would be updated.
