Discover Nivernais Morvan
The traveling festival is a unique opportunity to discover the varied landscapes of Nivernais Morvan: the wooded hills of Morvan, the Yonne valley, the charming villages of Clamecy, Varzy, and Tannay. The Canal du Nivernais, listed among the most beautiful canals in France, offers opportunities for boating and cycling. Corbigny is also known for its abbey and its musical festivals in August.
La Transverse fait son Festival: Street Art Closer to the Territories
Based in Corbigny, in the heart of the Nivernais Morvan, La Transverse is a unique cultural structure: an Open Stage for Public Arts that has been working since 2006 on the creation, dissemination, and mediation of street arts in rural areas. Every summer, "La Transverse fait son Festival" is the highlight of its activities.
A Traveling and Free Festival
The festival is not confined to a single location: it crosses the landscapes of Nivernais Morvan, traveling through about ten towns over a week. From Villiers-sur-Yonne to Lormes, via Clamecy, Varzy, Tannay, Cervon, and Alligny-en-Morvan, the shows take over the streets, squares, markets, and public spaces of these rural towns.
No Badge, No Ticket
The festival's philosophy is radical: no badges, no tickets, just the desire to be surprised where you least expect it. The shows are free and open access, appearing around a street corner or in a square, transforming the daily lives of residents and visitors into an artistic experience.
Varied Artistic Forms
The program explores the diversity of street arts:
- Street theater and quirky performances
- Burlesque shows and subversions of the everyday
- Artistic parades
- Circus and piste arts
- Installations and performances in public spaces
A Territorial Cultural Project
Beyond the summer festival, La Transverse carries out remarkable work in cultural creation and mediation throughout the year for a population of 38,000 inhabitants spread across three inter-municipalities. The association hosts between 15 and 20 artist residencies per year, organizes artistic practice workshops, a month dedicated to creation in public spaces ("MAI 1ères"), and a circus program in November ("La Transverse fait son cirque").
