Lauzun en Musiques — edition 2026

A week of classical music in Lauzun
From August 17 to 22, 2026, the Lauzun en Musiques Academy-Festival enlivens the town of Lauzun, a village of golden stones in Sud-Périgord dominated by its Renaissance château. The principle: an advanced training academy where young musicians work on interpretation alongside guest artists, punctuated by a series of concerts open to the public.
Masterclasses open to the public
Throughout the week (August 17 to 22), piano and viola masterclasses are free to attend: the public can observe the artistic work between professors and trainees. The 2026 edition notably brings together pianist Anne Queffélec (guest of honor), violist Paul Zientara, and pianist Gaspard Dehaëne.
Concerts at the château and under the Halle
Concerts are held in the Renaissance hall of the Château des Ducs de Lauzun (paid concerts) and under the Halle de Lauzun (free "Young Talents" concerts). Children up to 12 years old benefit from free admission, and reduced rates are offered to members of the association.

Lauzun en Musiques: Classical Music at the Heart of a City of Art and History
The association Lauzun en Musiques aims to promote all forms of music in Lauzun and its surroundings, seeking to raise public awareness of the discovery, transmission, and passion for music in this city of art and history located in the southern Périgord, in Lot-et-Garonne. A recent association but with solid experience in organizing concerts by internationally renowned artists, Lauzun en Musiques has quickly established itself as a key cultural player in the Pays de Lauzun.
The Academy-Festival: Interpretation Classes and Concerts
The highlight of the association is its Academy-Festival, organized every summer in August. This unique event combines interpretation classes given by internationally renowned pianists and musicians, and concerts open to the public. The interpretation classes and exchanges are free and open to all, while the concerts are accessible by reservation.
The inaugural edition of the Academy-Festival, in August 2025, brought together prestigious artists such as pianist Guillaume Coppola, who offered an interpretation class dedicated to the work of Érik Satie on the occasion of the centenary of his death, followed by a recital. Pianist Hervé Billaut offered a meeting followed by a concert, and the festival concluded with an exceptional concert featuring pianist Claire Désert and clarinetist Pascal Moraguès. Daniel Brenner, founder and artistic director, hosted the presentations and musical lectures.
Concerts Throughout the Year
Beyond the summer Academy-Festival, the association organizes concerts and musical events throughout the year. In April 2025, a concert-lecture brought together actress Brigitte Fossey and pianist Fanny Azzuro at the Saint-Étienne church in Lauzun on the theme of "The Night," blending texts and poems by Musset, Baudelaire, Novalis, Rilke, Valéry, Lamartine, and Cocteau with works by Clara Schumann, Brahms, and Chopin. The association also participates in the Printemps des Poètes with concert-declamations, such as that of cellist Yan Levionnois.
An Exceptional Heritage Setting
Lauzun en Musiques' events take place in historic locations. The Château de Lauzun, a Renaissance residence classified as a historic monument, hosts the Academy-Festival in a majestic setting that gives the concerts a unique atmosphere. The Saint-Étienne church, with its remarkable acoustics, serves as a backdrop for concert-lectures and recitals throughout the year. These heritage sites in the village of Lauzun offer an intimate and high-quality musical experience.
A Demanding and Accessible Program
Lauzun en Musiques' programming is characterized by its artistic excellence and its commitment to accessibility. By inviting internationally recognized soloists and chamber musicians, the association offers the public of Lot-et-Garonne top-level concerts in a friendly and intimate setting. The interpretation classes, free and open to all, allow the public to discover the behind-the-scenes of musical work and to interact directly with the artists.
