Le Petit Festival — edition 2026

Le Petit Festival returns to Puylaurens in early September 2026, hosted at a farm in the Tarn countryside for another multidisciplinary edition featuring theater, music, exhibitions, books, and games under a big top. Saturday, September 5th, 2026, has already been confirmed, featuring the BatucaBronX batucada band from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

2026 Edition

Le Petit Festival invites you to Puylaurens, in the Tarn region, for its 2026 back-to-school season event. The festival maintains its cozy, pocket-sized format: a farm in the Lauragais area of the Tarn, a big top, theater, music, art exhibitions, books, games, on-site catering, and a dedicated team of volunteers. The artistic direction is led by Juliette Jouhanneau at the family farm on Impasse du Griffoulet.

Confirmed so far

The local batucada group BatucaBronX has announced their performance at Le Petit Festival on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. In 2025, the event details were only shared by the local press the day before opening, so be sure to keep an eye on the festival's Facebook page in the days leading up to the event for the full program.

A human-sized festival in the Tarn countryside

Some festivals seek excess, large stages, and immense crowds. And then there is Le Petit Festival in Puylaurens, which proudly claims its small size as a virtue. Nestled in a farm in the heart of the Tarn Lauragais, this multidisciplinary event prioritizes proximity, authenticity, and artistic quality over quantity.

The farm as a stage and refuge

The festival's setting is a promise in itself: a farm in Puylaurens, with its barns converted into performance spaces, its paved courtyards transformed into theater stages, and its green spaces hosting open-air exhibitions and readings. This rural anchoring gives the whole event a timeless dimension, conducive to encounters between artists and spectators in a direct and relaxed relationship.

Theater, music, exhibitions, literature

Over two days in early September, Le Petit Festival unfolds a multidisciplinary program that showcases all forms of artistic expression:

  • Theater: Regional and national companies present short forms, contemporary creations, or revisited classical texts. The proximity to the artists allows for rich exchanges after the performances.
  • Music: Acoustic and amplified concerts punctuate the two days. Folk, French chanson, world music, or jazz: the musical offerings reflect the festival's open-mindedness.
  • Exhibitions: Local and regional visual artists exhibit their works in the farm's spaces, blending contemporary art and popular arts in a natural dialogue with the place.
  • Literature: Readings, signings, and meetings with authors allow book lovers to discover often under-the-radar but remarkably talented writers.

The spirit of a creation festival

What distinguishes Le Petit Festival from mere summer entertainment is its artistic ambition. The programmers are committed to presenting artists in the midst of creation, shows on tour, or regional premieres. The festival is thus a space for discovery, where the Tarn audience can experience demanding artistic forms in a relaxed setting.

The emphasis is on direct interaction between artists and the public: creators are accessible, informal exchanges are encouraged. Over a drink or a shared meal, bonds are forged that form the soul of small creation festivals.

A festival rooted in its territory

Puylaurens is a commune in the Tarn region, rooted in the Lauragais, this land of gentle hills between Albi and Toulouse. Le Petit Festival naturally fits into the tradition of rural festivals that enrich the cultural landscape of Occitanie. By mobilizing regional artists and welcoming a local audience, it contributes to the cultural vitality of an area often overlooked by major artistic circuits.

The host farm, with its pink brick buildings and green surroundings, offers an ideal setting for this human-sized artistic adventure. Families with children are welcome, and programming adapted for the younger ones is often included.

Strong community roots

Le Petit Festival is above all the work of a team of passionate volunteers, supported by collaborating artists and loyal local partners. Its sustainability relies on the commitment of the community of Puylaurens and neighboring towns, who see this festival as a tool for social connection and cultural outreach for their territory.
