About Sacré Trail

Le Sacré Trail is the premier event of the Reims Champagne Run, an 87 km ultra-trail crossing the Montagne de Reims and its UNESCO World Heritage vineyards. Starting from the CREPS of Reims to reach the Porte de Mars in the city center, this trail winds through 37 communes of the Grand Reims via forests, wine hills, and Champagne villages. An UTMB indexed event, Le Sacré Trail attracts hundreds of trail runners each year to take on this unique challenge between historical heritage and preserved nature.

Le Sacré Trail: An Ultra in the Heart of Champagne

Le Sacré Trail is much more than just a race: it's an 87-kilometer adventure through one of France's most beautiful terroirs. Created as part of the Reims Champagne Run, this exceptional trail takes runners from the CREPS of Reims to the iconic Porte de Mars, crossing the Montagne de Reims Regional Natural Park.

An Exceptional Course

The Sacré Trail route winds through the forests of the Montagne de Reims, vineyards classified as UNESCO World Heritage, and typical Champagne wine villages. Runners navigate varied terrain—forest paths, vineyard trails, urban passages—offering a unique diversity of landscapes and sensations. Eight aid stations are located along the course, some in emblematic locations of the Champagne vineyards.

An UTMB Indexed Event

Le Sacré Trail benefits from UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) indexing, meaning runners' performances are recorded in the global ultra-trail rankings. This recognition attracts trail runners from all over the world, eager to discover an original course in the heart of an exceptional terroir while earning points for the UTMB World Series circuit.

The Four-Person Relay Format

For those who wish to experience the Sacré Trail as a team, a four-person relay is offered. Four runners share the 87 km course, allowing each to discover a portion of the route while experiencing a collective and supportive adventure. This friendly format is growing in popularity with each edition.

Strong Territorial Roots

By crossing 37 communes of the Grand Reims, Le Sacré Trail contributes to the region's influence and the valorization of its natural and wine heritage. Volunteers from the communes involved in the organization of aid stations and signage create a real link between the sporting event and the local inhabitants.

Sacré Trail — edition 2026

The fourth edition of the Sacré Trail is confirmed for Saturday, October 10, 2026, as part of the Reims Champagne Run weekend (October 10 and 11, 2026). The 87 km ultra-trail starts at 8:00 AM from CREPS de Reims to reach the Porte de Mars, after 1,307 m of positive elevation gain through the Montagne de Reims and the Champagne vineyards. New for 2026: a 42 km trail format complements the 87 km individual and four-person relay.
