L'Été du Grand Jardin: open-air culture in a Renaissance setting

Since 2020, the Château du Grand Jardin in Joinville opens its doors every summer for a series of festive and cultural events named L'Été du Grand Jardin. This 16th-century pleasure pavilion, built between 1533 and 1546 by Claude de Lorraine, first Duke of Guise, offers a unique heritage setting for musical evenings and convivial moments outdoors.

Thursday Aperitifs

Every Thursday during the summer, from 6 PM to 10 PM, the castle gardens transform into a festive meeting place. The Thursday Aperitifs offer:

• Open-air concerts with various music groups
• A selection of food and drinks provided by local restaurateurs
• An enchanting setting in the heart of the Renaissance gardens, classified as a Remarkable Garden
• Dancing evenings under the stars in the castle park

The Thursday aperitifs take place on eight dates during July and August, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy a convivial moment in a place steeped in history.

An exceptional heritage setting

The Château du Grand Jardin, classified as a Historic Monument since 1925, is a jewel of Renaissance architecture in Champagne. Its four-hectare garden, classified as a Remarkable Garden, offers a lush green setting ideally suited for summer shows and events. Owned by the Conseil départemental de la Haute-Marne, the castle is managed by the Agence d'Attractivité de la Haute-Marne, which ensures its cultural animation throughout the season.
