Le Village est à Nous: Artistic Creation at the Heart of a Loire Village

Born in 2023 on the initiative of the Association des Parents d'Élèves de Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire, the festival Le Village est à Nous is an artistic event that transforms this small village on the banks of the Loire into an open-air performing arts stage every May. Located opposite the Chambord National Estate, Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire offers an enchanting setting between architectural heritage, the Loire riverbanks, and the Sologne countryside.

Free Shows in All Disciplines

The festival upholds a strong principle: offering a diversity of free shows across all performing arts disciplines. Over two days, about ten professional companies take over the village streets, squares, and public spaces to present original creations:

Theater and Street Theater

Street theater companies offer interactive and itinerant performances that take the audience through the village. Stories unfold in a street corner, a small square, or by the river, creating an immersive experience where the village's natural setting becomes an integral part of the staging.

Dance, Circus, and Music

Contemporary dance, circus, and live music shows complement the program, offering a rich and varied artistic palette. Puppet shows and poetic performances are particularly aimed at younger audiences but appeal to spectators of all ages.

The Village as a Creative Space

One of the festival's unique features is using the village itself as a creative space. Shows take place between the church square and the banks of the Loire, in the alleys, gardens, and public spaces of Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire. This on-site staging creates an intimate connection between the artists, the public, and the village's heritage.

2,000 Spectators from the First Edition

From its first edition in 2023, the festival attracted 2,000 spectators who came to discover the shows in the church square and along the Loire riverbanks. This immediate success confirmed the project's relevance and the public's appetite for a quality artistic event in a rural area. Subsequent editions have continued this momentum, expanding the program and attracting an ever-larger audience.

A Committed and Accessible Festival

Le Village est à Nous upholds strong values of accessibility, sharing, and creation. Admission is completely free for all shows, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to discovering the performing arts. A snack bar and refreshment area are set up in the village square, and the restaurants in Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire are open during the festival. The event is driven by dedicated volunteers who bring this ambitious cultural project to life in the heart of their village.
