The festival takes place over two evenings in August, from 6 PM to 1 AM. Each edition hosts five music groups with varied styles: French chanson, rock, blues, pop, world music, jazz, and hip-hop. This eclectic programming is one of the festival's trademarks, refusing to be confined to a single musical genre to better surprise and delight its audience.

Over the years, Les Boulettes d'Or has hosted groups such as Les Fils de Teuhpu, La Fanfare en Pétard, Les Garçons Trottoirs, Aïssate, and Les Pies Ki Piaffe, demonstrating the richness of the regional and national music scene.
