The Les Boulettes d'Or festival is a unique musical event that celebrates both live music and the mirabelle plum, an emblematic fruit of Lorraine. Located in Hannonville-sous-les-Côtes, at the foot of the Côtes de Meuse and near Lake Madine, the festival benefits from an exceptional natural setting in the heart of the Lorraine Regional Natural Park.
The festival takes place over two evenings in August, from 6 PM to 1 AM. Each edition hosts five music groups with varied styles: French chanson, rock, blues, pop, world music, jazz, and hip-hop. This eclectic programming is one of the festival's trademarks, refusing to be confined to a single musical genre to better surprise and delight its audience.
Over the years, Les Boulettes d'Or has hosted groups such as Les Fils de Teuhpu, La Fanfare en Pétard, Les Garçons Trottoirs, Aïssate, and Les Pies Ki Piaffe, demonstrating the richness of the regional and national music scene. The festival makes it a point of honor to support emerging artists while also featuring recognized headliners.
Les Boulettes d'Or is driven by a collective of passionate volunteers who manage the organization, catering, and reception of festival-goers. The community spirit is evident in every aspect of the festival: catering prepared by volunteers, a community village where local associations and citizen initiatives meet, and free camping for festival-goers.
Hannonville-sous-les-Côtes offers an exceptional green setting for this festival. The Côtes de Meuse, a characteristic geological formation of the Lorraine landscape, serve as the backdrop for the concerts. The proximity of Lake Madine and the Lorraine Regional Natural Park allows festival-goers to combine music with nature exploration.
By organizing the festival in August, the peak of the mirabelle plum harvest, the organizers celebrate this emblematic fruit of Lorraine. Tastings and activities centered around the mirabelle plum complement the musical program, anchoring the festival in the gastronomic identity of the region.
