The Les Champs Sonores Festival was born in 2019 from the desire of a collective of electronic music enthusiasts to create an event rooted in the rurality of Gâtine in Deux-Sèvres. The Octo Sympho association, based in Azay-sur-Thouet, has been championing a project that combines musical excellence and ecological responsibility since its inception.

The choice of Azay-sur-Thouet, a commune of a few hundred inhabitants nestled in the greenery of Gâtine, is not accidental. Far from the urban temples of techno, the festival claims a rural setting that transforms a simple field into a party ground, to the rhythm of basslines resonating under the stars. This deliberate rurality gives the festival a unique identity and atmosphere, somewhere between a bucolic rave and an electronic village fete.

A journey through electronic music

The programming of Les Champs Sonores embraces a wide spectrum of electronic music. Several stages — including a space dedicated to dub — offer a sonic journey exploring techno, house, dub, ambient, and electronic experiments. The festival features both renowned artists from the French electronic scene and emerging DJs and local sound systems.

The live dimension is essential: beyond DJ sets, the festival highlights instrumental projects and performances that blend electronic and acoustic instruments, creating unexpected sonic dialogues between tradition and modernity.

A sincere ecological commitment

Ecology is not just a slogan at Les Champs Sonores: it is a founding pillar of the festival. The Octo Sympho association, "anxious to have the smallest possible ecological impact," implements concrete actions: reusable cups, selective sorting and responsible waste management, local and seasonal products for catering, raising festival-goer awareness about environmental respect, and optimizing transport and energy use.

This approach is also reflected in the choice of partners and suppliers, who are favored for their local roots and sustainable practices. The festive village showcases producers and artisans from Gâtine.

Free camping — open from Friday for vehicles and campervans — allows festival-goers to fully experience the event over two days. The festive village offers food trucks, games, and relaxation areas. The controlled capacity ensures an intimate and warm atmosphere, far from the crowds of large festivals.
