About Les Endimanchés

Created in 2013 in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, the Les Endimanchés festival is a summer event dedicated to street arts in the heart of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park. For two days in July, the village transforms into an open-air stage with theater, circus, dance, music, and puppet shows, a craft market, cooperative wooden games, and a parent-powered carousel. Free and family-friendly, the festival celebrates the diversity of live arts in an exceptional natural setting.

Les Endimanchés: The Street Arts Celebration in Chartreuse

Since 2013, the Les Endimanchés festival has taken over the village of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse every summer for two days of shows, meetings, and conviviality. Supported by the eponymous association, this free event, open to all, has become a must-attend event in the cultural life of the Chartreuse mountains and the Isère department.

A Festival Rooted in its Territory

The primary objective of the Les Endimanchés association is to promote, disseminate, and sustain culture, particularly the diversity of street arts, within the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park. The festival asserts an identity resolutely focused on creative projects that combine inventiveness, celebration, emotions, exchanges, proximity to artists, and quality encounters, in a family atmosphere and a living environment connected to nature.

Located in the heart of the village, a stone's throw from the town hall and the central square, the festival takes advantage of the charm of this mountain village nestled at 900 meters altitude to offer a unique artistic experience, where shows naturally integrate into the surrounding landscape.

A Rich and Eclectic Program

Each edition offers a varied program mixing live art disciplines: street theater, circus, dance, music, singing, puppets, poetic installations, and participatory performances. The festival makes it a point of honor to present professional companies whose artistic work prioritizes proximity to the public and inventive forms.

Activities for All Ages

Beyond the shows, the festival offers a range of activities that make it unique: a craft market featuring local artisans, cooperative wooden games accessible to all ages, a parent-powered carousel that delights the little ones, participatory and collaborative workshops, as well as a friendly refreshment stand and food service.

Cultural Actions Throughout the Year

The Les Endimanchés association is not limited to the summer festival. It diversifies its actions and partnerships throughout the year through hosting resident companies, shows in local venues or in people's homes, and regular artistic proposals. In March 2026, for example, the association hosted a mime, theater, and poetry performance by Melchior Escoffier and Alexandre Schreiber at the communal hall.

Workshops for Youth

During the week preceding the festival, workshops introducing artistic practices are offered to children and young people aged 6 to 17. Led by professional artists, these workshops—circus, juggling, balancing, clowning, magic—allow participants to discover street arts and present their creations during the festival. This artistic education approach demonstrates the association's commitment to access to culture for all.

Les Endimanchés — edition 2026

The 14th edition of the Les Endimanchés festival will take place on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, 2026, in the village center of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse (Isère). Two days of free street performances (hat collection) combining circus, theater, dance, puppets, concerts, and musical tales, with 13 shows and 23 performances, a creators' market, participatory workshops, a carousel, and play areas for the whole family, from 0 to 133 years old.

14th Edition — July 11 and 12, 2026

The Les Endimanchés festival returns for its 14th edition on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, 2026, in the streets and squares of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse. The mountain village transforms into an open-air stage for a weekend of live performances, artistic encounters, and conviviality.

An Eclectic Street Program

Thirteen shows and twenty-three performances unfold throughout the village: circus, fairground and clown theater, dance, puppets, concerts, and musical tales take over the church square (place de l'église), Père Truffot's garden (jardin du Père Truffot), the Plan de Ville, the Town Hall square (place de la Mairie), the Parc esplanade (parvis du Parc), and the central streets. The festival highlights companies whose work stands out for its inventiveness and proximity to the audience, such as Turak Théâtre, La Bossue, or Compagnie du Gravillon.

Activities and Highlights

Beyond the shows, festival-goers will find the ingredients that make Les Endimanchés charming: the creators' market showcasing artisans from the Chartreuse massif, Dédé la Bricole's participatory play areas, Les Baladins du rire's carousel, plastic arts workshops (cyanotype, kaleidoscope, butterfly making), the Kapla workshop, and refreshment and catering areas.

Artistic Awareness Workshops

As every year, the week preceding the festival is dedicated to artistic awareness workshops for children and young people aged 6 to 17. Supervised by professional artists, these workshops (circus, dance, hip-hop, batucada, puppets) culminate in a public presentation on Sunday morning.
