Free concerts and street entertainment in the heart of summer in Sens
Every summer, Les Estivales de Sens enlivens the city of Sens with an eclectic program of free open-air concerts, street performances, and festive entertainment. From June to September, the squares, gardens, and esplanades of Sens come alive to the rhythm of music and performing arts. Jazz, world music, popular music, and contemporary music follow one another to offer convivial and accessible evenings for all audiences in a remarkable architectural setting.
The Estivales de Sens are the major summer cultural event of the prefecture of the Yonne. Every summer, the city of Sens offers a program of free open-air concerts and street entertainment that transforms its public spaces into lively stages accessible to all.
The strength of the Estivales lies in the diversity and freeness of their program. Jazz, blues, world music, French popular music, contemporary music, brass bands, and classical ensembles follow one another throughout the summer, week after week, to offer a wide and generous musical palette.
The Estivales take over the iconic heritage sites of Sens. The Parc du Moulin-à-Tan, a vast green space along the Yonne river, hosts the major musical evenings. The Cathédrale Saint-Étienne, a jewel of 12th-century Gothic art, offers its forecourt and surroundings for events in the heart of the city. The various squares and small squares in the city center complete this network of open-air stages.
The Estivales de Sens are not limited to concerts alone. They also include street entertainment during which circus performers, jugglers, storytellers, and traveling theater groups take over the pedestrian streets and markets. These impromptu moments of performance contribute to creating a festive atmosphere spread throughout the city.
The event is supported by the City of Sens and its Municipal Office of Culture, with the support of numerous local cultural associations. This pooling of resources makes it possible to offer an ambitious summer cultural program despite a constrained budget, in a spirit of public cultural service accessible to everyone.
A historic capital of the Sénonais region, Sens is a city rich in exceptional heritage. The Gothic Saint-Étienne cathedral—one of the first Gothic cathedrals in France—the Museum of Synods, the gardens, and the old town make it a prime setting for summer festivities. The Estivales contribute to animating this heritage and bringing it to life alongside the inhabitants and the many tourists passing through the region.
From June to August, Les Estivales de Sens 2026 offer a new season of free open-air concerts and street entertainment. Parks, gardens, and squares in the center of Sens will host musicians and artists for summer evenings open to all.
The Estivales de Sens 2026 return for a new season of free concerts and festive entertainment throughout the city. From the Parc du Moulin-à-Tan to the spaces of the historic center, the summer program offers regular events throughout the summer months.
