About Médiévales Thillombois
Total immersion in the Middle Ages
The Médiévales du Château de Thillombois offer a unique experience: two days of complete immersion in the Middle Ages. Organized by the association Connaissance de la Meuse, this event transforms the park and castle of Thillombois into a true living medieval village, with over 130 costumed participants animating the grounds from morning to night.
Knight Tournaments and Battles
The grand knight tournaments are the highlight of the event. The Compagnie Icario presents breathtaking jousts and equestrian demonstrations, several times a day. Armored combat, animated by the companies Lotharii Regnum and other reenactment troupes, offers an impressive display of medieval combat techniques.
Music and Shows
Musicians in period costumes roam the grounds, playing on copies of medieval instruments displayed inside the castle. Acrobats, jugglers, and jesters entertain in the park alleys, recreating the festive atmosphere of a medieval fair. A special show for young audiences, such as "The Secret of the Unicorn Goat", delights the little ones.
Encampments and Workshops
Numerous medieval encampments are set up in the castle park, offering a fascinating glimpse into daily life in the Middle Ages. Visitors can observe demonstrations of medieval cooking, archery, blacksmithing, weaving, and learn about the operation of a medieval cannon. Creative workshops allow children to discover the arts and crafts of the era.
Medieval Banquets
One of the event's highlights is the medieval banquet, served on Saturday evening and Sunday lunchtime by reservation. For €28 per adult and €13 per child, guests enjoy a menu inspired by medieval recipes, accompanied by drinks, in a festive and musical atmosphere. For those preferring a lighter option, a quick service area offers sandwiches, quiches, and crepes.
Practical Information about the Estate
The estate is open on Saturdays from 1:45 PM to 7:30 PM and on Sundays from 9:45 AM to 7:30 PM. All activities, shows, workshops, games, and exhibitions are included in the entrance fee. Parking is free, and the castle is accessible to all.
Médiévales Thillombois — edition 2026
ℹ️ 2026 edition cancelled — biennial event, next edition expected in 2027. The Médiévales du Château de Thillombois are organized alternately, every other year, with the Equestrian Biennial. The first edition of the Médiévales took place on September 20 and 21, 2025. In 2026, it is the Equestrian Biennial (7th edition, September 18-20, 2026) that occupies the castle: there is therefore no edition of the Médiévales in 2026. The next edition of the Médiévales is expected in 2027.
ℹ️ 2026 edition cancelled. The Médiévales du Château de Thillombois are a biennial event: the Connaissance de la Meuse association schedules them alternately with the castle's Equestrian Biennial. The first edition of the Médiévales took place on September 20 and 21, 2025. For 2026, the castle's official agenda announces the Equestrian Biennial (7th edition, September 18, 19 and 20, 2026) and not the Médiévales.
No edition of the Médiévales is therefore planned for 2026. According to the organizer's announcements, the Médiévales will return in 2027, alternating with the equestrian event. Practical information — Médiévales Thillombois
Access and Transport
The Médiévales are held at the Château de Thillombois (55260), on the D121 between Verdun and Bar-le-Duc.
- By car: From Verdun, follow the D903 then the D121 towards Thillombois (approx. 30 km). From Bar-le-Duc, take the D121 (approx. 25 km). Free parking on site.
- By train: Nearest stations: Verdun or Bar-le-Duc (TGV and TER Grand Est).
Opening Hours
Saturday: 1:45 PM to 7:30 PM with tournaments, shows, encampments, and workshops. Sunday: 9:45 AM to 7:30 PM, full program from the morning with demonstrations, shows, and continuous entertainment.
Prices
Adult: €18. Young person (7-15 years): €12. Child (under 7 years): free. Family (2 adults + 2 young people): €54. All activities, shows, workshops, games, and exhibitions are included in the entrance fee.
Medieval Banquet
Medieval meals are served on Saturday evening and Sunday lunchtime, by reservation only: €28 adult / €13 child. The menu includes dishes inspired by medieval recipes and drinks. For a lighter option, a quick service area offers sandwiches, quiches, and crepes (Rapido combo for €8).
Recommendations
Wear comfortable shoes for walking around the castle grounds. In case of rain, the program continues: bring waterproof clothing. Wearing a medieval costume is encouraged. Animals are not allowed on the site. Children's tickets must be booked in advance.
