Les Moments Musicaux du Tarn: Chamber Music at the Heart of Tarn's Heritage

Since 2009, the festival Les Moments Musicaux du Tarn has offered "another way to experience chamber music" by taking over remarkable heritage sites in Rabastinois and its surroundings. Founded by the association Chambre avec Vues, this traveling festival has created a unique summer event, where the exceptional acoustics of historic buildings enhance the performances of high-level musicians.

An Original Concept: Music Through Heritage

The festival's philosophy is based on the encounter between chamber music and architectural heritage. Each edition features concerts in carefully selected venues for their acoustic qualities and beauty: the Halle de Rabastens, the Notre-Dame du Bourg church (a UNESCO World Heritage site on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route), the Château de Giroussens, the Sainte-Quitterie chapel in Couffouleux, and even private residences. This itinerant approach allows the public to rediscover their region while experiencing intimate and immersive musical moments.

A Demanding and Open Program

Under the artistic direction of Antoine de Grolée since 2014, each edition revolves around a unifying theme — water, night, nature — guiding the choice of repertoire and performers. The invited ensembles — string quartets, trios, duets, wind ensembles — explore a wide spectrum of repertoire: from Haydn to Debussy, from Mozart to Ravel, including Schubert, Dvořák, and contemporary creations.

The Tremplin Découvertes: A Nursery for Young Talents

A highlight of the festival, the Tremplin Découvertes is a competition open to young musicians and ensembles at the beginning of their careers. In front of a professional jury chaired by figures from the music world — such as composer and founder of the Radio-France & Montpellier festival René Koering in 2025 — candidates perform under real concert conditions. This springboard has helped launch many talents who now have national and international careers.

Values of Accessibility and Eco-responsibility

True to its founding values, the festival offers affordable prices, free concerts, and educational activities in schools. Free shuttles connect the different concert venues, and catering uses local producers. The association Chambre avec Vues mobilizes a team of passionate volunteers each year to bring this musical event to life in a friendly and family-oriented spirit.
