Les Résonances — edition 2026

From September 18 to 27, 2026, Les Résonances presents nine free shows across nine towns in the Tarn-et-Garonne region, spanning two weekends, including the European Heritage Days. The theme for this year's edition is "Fendre l'armure" (Breaking the Armor): featuring castle courtyards in Nègrepelisse and Bioule, the Place des Cornières in Lauzerte, the Doyenné courtyard in Varen, and the cloister of Montpezat-de-Quercy. Free entry, no booking required.

Les Résonances 2026: "Fendre l'armure"

Tarn-et-Garonne Arts & Culture is hosting nine free shows in nine different towns from Friday, September 18, to Sunday, September 27, 2026. Les Résonances kicks off the La Talveraie traveling cultural season, which focuses on the theme of "paths of play" for the 2026-2027 edition.

Two weekends, nine towns

The first weekend, from September 18 to 20, coincides with the European Heritage Days, with events in Nègrepelisse, Montauban, Montricoux, and Bioule. The second weekend, from September 25 to 27, visits Varen, Lauzerte, Cazes-Mondenard, Montpezat-de-Quercy, and Castelmayran.

Most concerts take place outdoors at heritage sites: the courtyard of the Château de Nègrepelisse, the Château de Bioule, Place Marcel Lenoir in Montricoux, the Place des Cornières in the bastide of Lauzerte, the Place du Doyenné in Varen, the cloister of Montpezat-de-Quercy, and the town hall square in Castelmayran. Montauban hosts Étienne Manchon's solo piano performance in the Departmental Council hall, while Cazes-Mondenard welcomes the Orchestre Départemental d'Harmonie at the village hall. Each outdoor concert has a backup indoor location in case of bad weather, as indicated in the program.

Tours and workshops around the concerts

Five towns are offering free activities before the shows: a tour of the Departmental Council in Montauban, a tour of the Château de Bioule, a medieval treasure hunt in Lauzerte, a heritage tour in Montpezat-de-Quercy, and an introduction to traditional Occitan dances in Castelmayran. Two of these require prior registration.

On-site

All shows are free and do not require booking. Food trucks and refreshments will be available in Nègrepelisse, Montricoux, and Varen; refreshments and cakes in Bioule; and refreshments and food in Cazes-Mondenard.

A touring festival, with new locations every year

Les Résonances does not have a fixed home. Each year, Tarn-et-Garonne Arts & Culture invites municipalities across the department to participate: those wishing to host a performance apply, join the association, and contribute between €100 and €500 depending on their population size. For the 2026 edition, applications had to be submitted by January 5, 2026. The route, the towns, and the venues change from one year to the next, so please always refer to the current year's program rather than previous editions.

Two weekends in September

The festival takes place over two weekends in September, with the first coinciding with the European Heritage Days. In 2023, it ran from September 15 to 24; in 2024, from September 20 to 29; and in 2026, from September 18 to 27.

Free performances for everyone

All performances are free and do not require booking. Most are held outdoors, with an indoor backup venue announced in case of bad weather. Host towns often add free guided tours, workshops, or treasure hunts related to the local heritage before the concert. The program features a mix of music, circus, puppetry, and dance.

Tarn-et-Garonne Arts & Culture

The departmental association Tarn-et-Garonne Arts & Culture manages the festival as well as La Talveraie, a touring cultural season running from October to June in the department's rural communes. Since September 2024, it has been recognized as a Scène conventionnée d'intérêt national (Nationally Conventioned Stage) with a focus on Art, Childhood, and Youth by the Ministry of Culture. The detailed program for each edition is published on latalveraie.fr and tarnetgaronne-artsetculture.fr.
