Unique free international flamenco festival in France, in Aubagne
Les Nuits Flamencas of Aubagne is the only free international flamenco festival in France. Created in 2015 by guitarist Juan Carmona in partnership with the City of Aubagne and the association Nomades Kultur, this festival offers every summer concerts, dance shows, masterclasses, introductions to Sevillana, film screenings and an Andalusian village. An unmissable event for traditional and contemporary flamenco in Provence.
At the beginning of July each year, Aubagne is draped in an Andalusian atmosphere for Les Nuits Flamencas, the only free international flamenco festival in France. Created in 2015 by the virtuoso guitarist Juan Carmona, in collaboration with the City of Aubagne and the association Nomades Kultur, this festival has established itself in just a few editions as a major flamenco event in Europe, attracting the biggest names in the discipline in a popular and accessible setting.
The strength of Les Nuits Flamencas lies in the quality of its artistic program, which brings together internationally renowned artists while remaining completely free. Each edition features flamenco dance shows, guitar and cante concerts, masterclasses open to amateurs and professionals, introductions to Sevillana, and film screenings at Cinéma Pagnol. The festival has hosted artists of the stature of Antonio Canales, Andrés Marín, Karime Amaya, Jorge Pardo, Kema Baliardo, and the Ursula López company.
During the festival, an Andalusian village is set up on the Esplanade de Gaulle in Aubagne, recreating the atmosphere of a Spanish feria with Andalusian gastronomy stands, Sevillana concerts, and a festive atmosphere that invites the public to participate. The tapas tables, spontaneous flamenco, and outdoor dance classes transform the esplanade into a true corner of Provençal Andalusia.
Les Nuits Flamencas has developed satellite events that extend the spirit of the festival throughout the year and beyond Aubagne. The Automnales Flamencas offer shows in the autumn, the Nuits Flamencas Métropoles take over venues in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, and the Tablao Flamenco evenings offer intimate evenings in the spirit of Andalusian taverns. The artistic direction of Juan Carmona, an internationally recognized guitarist, guarantees a demanding and passionate program.
