An iconic festival born in the heart of Auvergne

Created in 1993 in the small hamlet of Esfacy, in the commune of Mazerat-Aurouze a few kilometers from Paulhaguet, Les Sensations d'Esfacy established itself for over fifteen years as one of the major musical events in Haute-Loire. Set in a heavenly natural setting, by a stream and surrounded by meadows, the festival successfully combined artistic quality, festive spirit, and accessibility in a typically Auvergnat green setting.

An eclectic and ambitious program

The strength of Les Sensations d'Esfacy lay in its musical eclecticism. The festival offered a daring program mixing rock, pop, electro, dub, French chanson, and world music, with particular attention paid to emerging genres and innovative artists. Over its editions, the festival hosted nationally and internationally renowned artists on its stage: Les Rita Mitsouko, Bob Sinclar, Ez3kiel, Paul Personne, Calvin Russell, Arthur H, Matmatah, Arno, Zenzile, and Claire Diterzi. This demanding program, oscillating between recognized headliners and discoveries from the independent scene, forged the festival's unique identity.

A bucolic setting by the water

One of the major charms of Les Sensations d'Esfacy was its exceptional natural setting. The festival took place outdoors, in a clearing bordered by a stream, offering festival-goers total immersion in the Auvergne nature. This rural setting, far from urban bustle, contributed to creating a unique atmosphere of relaxation and conviviality that built a loyal audience from all over Auvergne and beyond. The site had a bar, a catering area, and parking, ensuring minimal comfort in a preserved environment.

A friendly spirit and accessible prices

True to a popular spirit and open to all, the organizers of Les Sensations d'Esfacy always maintained accessible prices, with evenings costing around 15 euros and weekend passes at 25 euros. This pricing policy, coupled with a reasonable artistic budget and an innovative program, largely explains the festival's lasting success with a loyal and enthusiastic audience. The festival embodied a simple and authentic festive spirit, on a human scale, in the tradition of rural associative events.

A cultural heritage for Haute-Loire

After 14 editions that marked the cultural history of the region, the festival ceased its activities at the end of the 2000s. Les Sensations d'Esfacy nevertheless remains etched in the memory of festival-goers and the inhabitants of Haute-Loire as a pioneering event, demonstrating that a small rural hamlet could host a national-quality music program in an exceptional natural setting.
