Les Vendredis de Sancerre

A weekly event in the heart of the vineyards

For several years, Les Vendredis de Sancerre have become a must-attend summer event in the Sancerre vineyards. Organized by the Sancerre winegrowers' association, these events take place every Friday, from June 20 to September 5, on the terrace of the Maison des Sancerre, offering an exceptional panoramic view of the vineyards and the Loire valley.

Meet the appellation's winemakers

The principle is simple: every Friday, a different winemaker from the 14 villages of the appellation presents their wines. It's a unique opportunity to taste Sancerre whites, rosés, and reds, as well as Pouilly-Fumé, directly from the producers. The winemakers share their passion, explain their work from the vine to the cellar, and reveal the subtleties of the Sancerre terroirs: the white soils (Kimmeridgian marl), the caillottes, and the flints.

A friendly atmosphere on the terrace

The terrace of the Maison des Sancerre, overlooking the village and the vineyards, offers an ideal setting for these outdoor tastings. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, conducive to exchanges between wine lovers, passing visitors, and local residents. It's also an opportunity to enjoy the long summer evenings with a breathtaking view of the sunset over the Loire.

Les Vendredis de Sancerre are an ideal gateway to discovering the AOC Sancerre, one of the most prestigious appellations in the Loire Valley. The vineyard covers 2,900 hectares spread across 14 communes. The main grape variety is Sauvignon blanc for white wines, and Pinot noir for rosé and red wines. The geological diversity of the terroir gives Sancerre wines a great aromatic richness and a characteristic minerality.
