Les Vignerons dans la Ville – Chinon

Les Vignerons dans la Ville is the major spring event for the AOC Chinon appellation. Every year in April, Chinon winemakers take over the Promenades des Docteurs-Mattraits, shaded alleys along the Vienne river, for an exceptional day of tastings and meetings at the foot of the royal fortress of Chinon.

A showcase for AOC Chinon

The event brings together about sixty estates from the AOC Chinon appellation, offering visitors a comprehensive overview of the richness and diversity of the Chinon vineyards. It's a unique opportunity to taste the new vintage of red, rosé, and white wines, mainly from the cabernet franc grape variety, ahead of its release, and to discover the different expressions of this exceptional Loire terroir.

Meetings and workshops

Les Vignerons dans la Ville is above all a moment of direct interaction between producers and the public. The winemakers share their passion, explain their working methods, and introduce the specificities of their plots. Tasting workshops are offered to deepen the understanding of Chinon wines, and the Caves Painctes, famous troglodyte galleries immortalized by Rabelais, open their doors to visitors.

Market and entertainment

A local producers' market accompanies the event, offering gastronomic specialties from the Touraine region. Musical entertainment punctuates the day, creating a festive and friendly atmosphere by the Vienne river. The event runs from 10 am to 6:30 pm, and the tasting glass is available for €8.

An exceptional setting

The Promenades des Docteurs-Mattraits site offers a remarkable setting, between the banks of the Vienne river and the imposing silhouette of the royal fortress of Chinon. This popular promenade for locals is transformed for one day into an open-air wine exhibition, combining oenological discovery with heritage charm.
