Celebration of the Grand Noir du Berry
For many years, the Lignières Donkey and Mule Fair has perpetuated a tradition deeply rooted in the Berry landscape. This unique event honors the Grand Noir du Berry donkey, an emblematic breed of the region, while celebrating all donkeys and mules.
The fair takes place every year on Whit Monday at the Place du Champ de Foire in Lignières. The program includes: donkey competitions, demonstrations by knife sharpeners and rope makers, free carriage rides pulled by donkeys, and fairground attractions for the whole family.
This event connects the town of Lignières with its emblematic animal and is a special occasion to discover the rural heritage of Berry. Visitors can interact with breeders, observe the presentation competitions, and enjoy a friendly and family atmosphere.
Over the years, the Donkey and Mule Fair has become a must-attend event in southern Berry, attracting animal lovers, families, and anyone wishing to discover local traditions in a festive and authentic atmosphere.
