Literary festival in Lalinde, a bastide town in Périgord pourpre
The Lire en Bastides festival takes place every year in September on the market square of Lalinde, a medieval bastide founded in the 13th century on the banks of the Dordogne river. Created to promote reading and literature in rural areas, the festival goes far beyond a simple book fair by offering a rich program of encounters, debates, workshops, and performances.
Each edition hosts around fifty authors and illustrators for book signings and sales. The program includes literary debates, writing and illustration workshops, public readings, and live performances related to books. The festival is sponsored by renowned authors in the fields of literary fiction and children's literature.
Admission is free for all activities. Friday is reserved for school groups, while the weekend is open to the general public. The festival is organized by the community of communes Bastides Dordogne-Périgord with the support of the town of Lalinde and local cultural partners.
The Lire en Bastides festival will return to Lalinde in September 2026 for its 10th edition, an anniversary that promises a rich program. As every year, the festival will offer encounters with authors and illustrators, book signings, debates, workshops, and performances. Admission will remain free. Dates and program to be confirmed.
The festival takes place on the market square, in the town center of Lalinde, 24150 Lalinde.
