Literary festival of the Ligue de l'Enseignement in Tarbes
Le Mai du Livre is a literary festival organized every year in May in Tarbes by the Ligue de l'Enseignement des Hautes-Pyrénées (FOL 65). For over forty years, it has offered a week of meetings with authors, conferences, shows, readings, exhibitions, and writing workshops at the Haras de Tarbes and in various cultural venues in the city. Each edition explores a societal theme through literature.
Mai du Livre is one of the oldest literary festivals in the Hautes-Pyrénées. Organized by the Ligue de l'Enseignement des Hautes-Pyrénées (FOL 65), it is held every year in May at the Haras de Tarbes and in various cultural venues in the city.
For a week, the festival offers a rich program:
Each edition addresses a societal issue through the prism of literature: "And the human?" in 2025, "Taking part" in 2024, "Daring to know" previously. The festival hosts renowned writers, African storytellers like Ladji Diallo, sociologists, and artists to foster reflection and civic debate.
The 47th edition of Mai du Livre will be held in May 2026 in Tarbes. The theme and program will be announced in the spring of 2026.
