Marchés Gourmands du Berry
Gourmet picnics under the stars at Parc Balsan in Châteauroux
2026
About Marchés Gourmands
Each summer, the Berry Gourmet Markets take over the Parc Balsan in Châteauroux and several towns in the metropolitan area for open-air gastronomic evenings. From late June to late July, about twenty producers and food artisans from Indre offer their Berry specialties: spit-roasted ham, beef and lamb burgers, saffron crepes, fried Brenne carp, artisanal ice creams, and local drinks. The principle is simple: compose your dinner, settle down on the grass, and enjoy a picnic under the stars, accompanied by a local music group.

Open-air gourmet evenings
The Berry Gourmet Markets have become an unmissable summer event in Berry. Organized by Châteauroux Berry Tourisme, they offer five evenings each year on Fridays in late June and July. Parc Balsan in Châteauroux hosts the majority of the markets, complemented by stops in Villedieu-sur-Indre, Le Poinçonnet, and Déols depending on the edition, where local producers and visitors gather for friendly open-air evenings.
The flavors of the Berry region
About twenty producers and food artisans from Indre and neighboring departments offer their best specialties. Spit-roasted ham, Berry beef and lamb burgers, saffron crepes, fried carp — a specialty of the Brenne —, artisanal ice creams, and local drinks (craft beers, lemonades) make up a varied and gourmet menu. Visitors freely choose their dishes from the various stands to compose their personalized dinner.
Picnic under the stars
The concept of the Gourmet Markets is simple and friendly: visitors settle on the grass with their blankets, tablecloths, and cutlery to enjoy a picnic under the stars. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly. People come with friends, family, or neighbors to share a moment of conviviality and gourmet pleasure in a green setting.
Live music and festive atmosphere
Every Friday evening, a local music group provides musical entertainment, creating a festive and warm atmosphere. The melodies accompany tastings and discussions, extending summer evenings in the gentle Berry region. These open-air concerts are an opportunity to discover the local music scene while savoring regional products.
A traveling event across the metropolitan area
The Berry Gourmet Markets move each week to different communes of Châteauroux Métropole. After the stops at Parc Balsan in Châteauroux, the market successively sets up in Villedieu-sur-Indre, Le Poinçonnet, or Déols depending on the editions. This itinerancy allows visitors to discover the different sites and landscapes of the metropolitan area while supporting local producers and short supply chains.
