The essential back-to-school event at Parc Chanot, featuring commerce, gastronomy, and festive entertainment
The Marseille International Fair is a century-old institution that brings together nearly 300,000 visitors and over 1,000 exhibitors each autumn at Parc Chanot, Marseille's convention and exhibition center. Created in 1924, it is the oldest and largest trade fair in the south of France. For eleven days, from the last weekend of September to the first weekend of October, the exhibition park transforms into a huge village where local artisans, national brands, and international exhibitors meet.
The Marseille Fair stands out for the diversity of its exhibition sectors. Visitors can discover the latest trends in home decor, decoration, gardening, and swimming pools, as well as in fashion, beauty, well-being, and leisure. The international pavilion hosts artisans and merchants from all over the world, offering crafts, textiles, jewelry, and culinary specialties. Gastronomy plays a central role, with a dedicated area for Provençal regional products and world flavors, where visitors can taste and buy directly from producers.
Beyond commerce, the Marseille International Fair is a true festive event. Each edition is punctuated by shows, culinary demonstrations, concerts, and family entertainment. The late-night openings, held several evenings a week, extend the atmosphere until 11 p.m. with themed evenings and special events. A children's area offers workshops and rides, making the fair an ideal family outing. The aisles are enlivened by street performers, dancers, and musicians who create a permanent festive atmosphere.
Founded in 1924, the Marseille Fair has gone through a century of history, adapting to economic and cultural changes while retaining its identity as a major popular gathering. It celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2025 with a special edition dedicated to the behind-the-scenes of cinema. Organized by GL Events, it is part of the network of major French fairs and is a major economic driver for the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolis, generating significant returns for the city's hoteliers, restaurateurs, and merchants.
