The gastronomic event of the back-to-school season in Provence
For a decade, Les Vendanges Étoilées de Cassis has become a flagship event in the French gastronomic calendar. Every year in September, the charming fishing port of Cassis, about twenty kilometers from Marseille, transforms into a Provençal gastronomic village hosting about fifty chefs, artisans, and winemakers. Place Baragnon and the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle become the stage for three days of celebration dedicated to gastronomy, local produce, and conviviality.
Michelin-starred chefs and MOFs in attendance
Each edition of Les Vendanges Étoilées benefits from the patronage of an internationally renowned chef. Michelin-starred chefs, Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (MOF), and recognized culinary talents take turns on the demonstration stage throughout the weekend. The culinary demonstrations, free and open to all, allow the public to discover the secrets of the greatest chefs, while the cooking and pastry classes offer a participatory and gourmet experience.
AOC Cassis wines in the spotlight
Les Vendanges Étoilées celebrate the marriage between gastronomy and AOC Cassis wines, one of France's first appellations d'origine contrôlée (1936). The 12 wine estates of Cassis are present at the artisans and producers market, offering tastings of their white, rosé, and red wines. The oenology master classes, led by sommeliers, allow visitors to deepen their knowledge of Cassis wines and the art of tasting.
A market of artisans and producers
The artisans and producers market, open throughout the three days of the festival, brings together local producers, winemakers, artisans, and flavor creators. Visitors can discover and purchase Provençal local products, from olive oils to cheeses, and jams to spices, in a friendly and authentic atmosphere. Le Divino and La Maison des vins offer wine bars throughout the weekend.
Cassis, the natural setting for the festival
The exceptional setting of Cassis contributes to the charm of Les Vendanges Étoilées. Nestled between the cliffs of Cap Canaille, France's highest maritime cliffs, and the Calanques, this fishing village offers a postcard-perfect backdrop for a gastronomic festival. The organizers rely on the Cassis Tourist Office to welcome visitors in the best conditions.
