Mayenne en Scène: The Showcase for Mayenne's Amateur Theatre
For over thirty years, the Mayenne en Scène festival has offered a prestigious showcase for amateur theatre troupes from the Mayenne department. Organized each spring at the Centre Culturel Les Angenoises in Bonchamp-lès-Laval, this event has become a must-see in local cultural life, drawing large and enthusiastic audiences each evening.
A Competitive and Friendly Festival
The festival's principle is simple and unifying: about fifteen amateur troupes from Mayenne are selected to present their shows on the Océane stage at Les Angenoises. Every evening at 8:15 PM, a troupe performs for the audience. Pass holders can vote to award the Audience Award. In parallel, a jury composed of an experienced actor or professional, representatives of partners, and amateurs awards the Jury Prize.
The 34th Edition: Record Attendance
The 34th edition, held from April 7 to 11, 2025, recorded record attendance with approximately 500 spectators per evening and 200 pass holders. Five troupes were selected for the final:
- Théâtre de la Douve (Saint-Quentin-les-Anges) — Le retour de Richard 3 par le train de 9h24
- Contes et Comédies (Contest) — Le cirque d'Amélie (Audience Award)
- Monti'théâtre (Montigné-le-Brillant) — Bienvenue au Bel Automne
- À tour de rôle (Saint-Poix) — Le diable au cor
- Apel des Planches (Cossé-le-Vivien) — Les crapauds fous (Jury Prize)
A Springboard for Amateur Troupes
The festival serves as a true springboard for the department's amateur troupes. Being selected for Mayenne en Scène is a motivating goal that stimulates the artistic creativity and standards of the companies. The Angenoises stage, with its 130 m², offers professional technical conditions, allowing troupes to perform in a high-quality setting.
Over Three Decades of Theatrical Passion
Since its creation, Mayenne en Scène has hosted hundreds of troupes and thousands of amateur actors, contributing to the vitality of amateur theatre in Mayenne. The festival is a place for encounters, emulation, and sharing among theatre enthusiasts, both amateurs and loyal spectators.
