The Montguyon Medieval Festival returns on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25, 2026 on the castle esplanade. Organized by the Scénies en 2 Monts association, it offers its grand sound and light show labeled Sites en Scène (120 volunteer actors), a medieval night market, and historical entertainment throughout the weekend.
2026 Edition
For its 2026 edition, the Montguyon Medieval Festival once again plunges the Saintongeaise city into the atmosphere of the Middle Ages on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25. The highlight of the event remains the grand sound and light show labeled Sites en Scène, performed by approximately 120 volunteer actors on the castle esplanade, and followed by a fireworks display fired above the castle ruins.
A Weekend of Medieval Immersion
On Saturday afternoon, from 2 PM to 8 PM, the site comes alive with a medieval encampment, combat demonstrations, workshops on life in the Middle Ages, guided tours of the castle, equestrian shows, medieval wooden games for children, period music, and dances. Each evening, a night market opens from 7 PM before the show's performance, with on-site catering and entertainment.

The Medieval Festival of Montguyon transforms the town into a medieval city for a weekend. The S2M association offers two days to travel back in time and immerse yourself in an authentic medieval atmosphere with knights, lords, and troubadours.
The Castle of Discord
The sound and light show "Le château de la Discorde", labeled Sites en Scène, brings together 120 volunteer actors to tell the eventful history of Montguyon Castle. Performances take place on Friday and Saturday evenings on the castle esplanade, with afternoon entertainment on Saturday.
Medieval Market and Entertainment
The weekend also features a night market, medieval entertainment, combat demonstrations, period crafts, and medieval catering. A total immersion into the world of the Middle Ages in the heart of Charente-Maritime.
