The Sommières Medieval Festival and its fantastic market returns on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in the historic center of Sommières (Gard). A free-access day of celebration blending the Middle Ages and a fantastic universe, from 10 AM to 6 PM.
The Sommières Medieval Festival 2026
On Sunday, May 31, 2026, the narrow streets and squares of Sommières' historic center will transform into a medieval and fantastic city. As the castle is closed for renovation, this year the celebration will take over the heart of the old town. Access is free, and the public is invited to come in costume.
On the program: historical encampments held by the Dominium Vulpis and Via Méridionalis companies, wanderings of fantastic creatures (including the dragon Gonraad), passages of the mercenaries from the Guilde de la Grenouille, demonstrations of ancient crafts (blacksmithing, illumination, calligraphy, card weaving), axe throwing and black powder shooting, street shows, storytelling, ancient music and dances.
A large medieval and fantastic market brings together more than 80 exhibitors. Food and drinks are available on site, and a medieval banquet (by reservation) is served from 12 PM under the plane trees.
