A Dive into the Heart of the Middle Ages at the Forteresse de Thil

On August 8 and 9, 2026, the Forteresse de Thil will don its colorful attire to celebrate the 17th anniversary of its medieval festival. Perched on its hill, this fortress is presented as « the oldest fortified castle in France » according to André Malraux, an exceptional setting for a family medieval immersion.

Companies, Encampments, and Knights

The fortress's host companies animate the site: a mercenary camp offering its services to the highest bidder, artisan camps where you can discover candle making, tin founding, or cooking in the Middle Ages, not to mention valiant knights in armor.

Shows and Entertainment

• « The Path of the Little Knights of Thil »: an interactive show where apprentice knights test their bravery, skill, and endurance through various trials to be knighted and join the army of Constable Jean II de Thil.
• Medieval games
• « Justice in the Middle Ages »: a preview of the new show by Baudoin Servicial de Thil.
• Magic comes to the festival: a dedicated area, the profession of Perceval, the host of the Fortress, with the magical objects from the Roulotte Enchantée and the show « Secrets d'Ailleurs », a mix of theater and illusions by Perceval and the Enchanteurs de l'An Mil.
• The medieval market and its creators: some set up their workshop-stall to talk about their art (forging, woodworking…).
