About MIWA Festival
The MIWA Festival brings together artists, craftspeople, and practitioners at the Compans-Caffarelli Japanese garden to showcase the arts and expertise of Japan, including tea ceremonies, calligraphy, bonsai, martial arts, and gastronomy. Formerly known as Japan Touch and then Tokyo Market Toulouse, the event has now adopted its current identity. This free festival attracts around 15,000 visitors each year for performances, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops.

- 10:00 AM — Official opening
Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th, 2026 (all day)
- Performances and concerts: taiko drumming, yosakoi dance, and singing with Emiko Ota
- Martial arts demonstrations: nine disciplines, including aikido, karate-dō, kyūdō (archery), and goshin tai jutsu
- Workshops: tea ceremony (chadō), calligraphy (tanzaku), bonsai, kokedama, ceramics (tōjiki), and origami
- Well-being: shiatsu and Zen meditation
- Manga area (EIMA) and cosplay zone
- Kodomo Village, a space dedicated to children
- Leisure: mah-jong and Japanese (nihongo) introductory sessions
- Guided tour of the Japanese garden
- Japanese gastronomy: kakigōri, matcha bar (Ocha Matcha Lab), and sake tasting

Free admission, no booking required. Compans-Caffarelli Japanese Garden, boulevard Lascrosses, 31000 Toulouse. Opens Saturday at 10:00 am.
The festival began as Japan Touch, later became Tokyo Market Toulouse, and as of 2026, is known as the MIWA Festival—its ninth edition marks this rebranding. It is held over two days in the Japanese garden of Compans-Caffarelli park, under the high patronage of the Consulate General of Japan in Marseille.
The program features a mix of performances and music (taiko drumming, yosakoi dance, and singing with Emiko Ota), nine martial arts disciplines including aikido, karate-do, and kyudo, as well as workshops on calligraphy, bonsai, tea ceremonies, and origami. There is also a manga area hosted by EIMA, a children's zone called Village Kodomo, and a selection of Japanese cuisine, including kakigori, a matcha bar, and sake tasting.
