Molière, Theatre in all its — edition 2026
From June 1st to 7th, 2026, Pézenas, the 'city of Molière', celebrates its 17th edition of the festival Molière, le théâtre dans tous ses éclats. For a week, the city in Hérault transforms into an open-air theatre and invites the general public to follow in the footsteps of the illustrious classical author, who stayed in Pézenas, by (re)discovering his repertoire through numerous performances spread throughout the city.
On the program: shows at the Historic Theatre, street theatre, baroque concerts, film screenings, exhibitions, readings, conferences, costume parade, and meetings with artists. The patron of this edition is Jean-Philippe Daguerre, author, actor, and director, multiple Molières award winner.
Molière, le Théâtre dans tous ses éclats — 17th edition (June 1st to 7th, 2026)
Every year at the beginning of June, Pézenas (34120), in Hérault, pays tribute to Molière, who stayed in the city and found part of his inspiration there. From Monday, June 1st to Sunday, June 7th, 2026, the 17th edition of the festival Molière, le théâtre dans tous ses éclats turns the entire city into an open-air stage.
A week of theatre and heritage
The festival offers a whirlwind of proposals: shows at the Historic Theatre of Pézenas, street theatre in the streets, baroque concerts, film screenings, exhibitions, readings, conferences, period costume parade, and meetings with artists. The performances take over the city's heritage sites (Theatre, historic city center, Château du Parc, gardens, squares).
The 2026 patron
The patron of this 17th edition is Jean-Philippe Daguerre, author, actor, and director, multiple Molières award winner. He presents Marius, by Marcel Pagnol, at the Théâtre de Pézenas, with seven actors from his company Le Grenier de Babouchka. The ceremony 'Sur les pas de Molière' (In Molière's Footsteps) also honors the founders of the Illustre Théâtre de Pézenas, Gérard Mascot and Flore Padiglione.
