ℹ️ Festival discontinued. Created in 2013 in Limoges by the Théâtre de la Marmaille and the L'Art Scène association, the Monster Kid Festival was an event dedicated to imaginary cultures in Haute-Vienne. Each autumn, from mid-November to mid-December, it took over several cultural venues in Limoges (including the CCM John Lennon) to offer screenings of fantasy and horror films, cine-concerts, creative workshops, exhibitions, and meetings centered around genre cinema, manga, and fantasy. The last publicly documented edition was the 3rd edition, organized from November 14 to December 13, 2015. At the time of our editorial verification (June 2026), we found no public source announcing a new edition.

Born in 2013 from the collaboration between the Théâtre de la Marmaille and the L'Art Scène association, the Monster Kid Festival had established itself as a meeting point for enthusiasts of imaginary cultures in Haute-Vienne. For nearly a month, from mid-November to mid-December, this itinerant festival transformed several cultural venues in Limoges into spaces dedicated to fantasy, horror, and geek culture.
The Monster Kid Festival distinguished itself by its program combining screenings of fantasy and horror films, immersive cine-concerts, creative workshops, and thematic exhibitions. Spectators discovered genre cinema classics, contemporary works, and little-known gems, in a friendly and quirky atmosphere. The festival gave pride of place to cine-concerts, where musicians accompanied live the screening of silent films or fantastic short films.
Beyond cinema, the Monster Kid Festival explored the entire spectrum of the imaginary: manga, fantasy, fantastic literature, board games, and pop culture. Fun workshops allowed visitors of all ages to learn about fantastic illustration, special effects makeup, or monster creation. Exhibitions highlighted the work of local and national artists gravitating around the universe of the fantastic.
The originality of the Monster Kid Festival also lay in its itinerant nature. The festival took over several halls and cultural spaces in Limoges, notably the CCM John Lennon, municipal cultural centers, and other partner venues, bringing culture to life in different neighborhoods of the city.
True to its quirky spirit, the Monster Kid Festival welcomed an audience «from 6 months to 666 years old». The program was designed to satisfy both novices and connoisseurs, with sessions adapted for the youngest and nocturnal events for thrill-seekers. Prices, from 4 to 18 euros per ticket, contributed to this desire for openness and cultural democratization.
