About Muse & Piano

Muse & Piano is a classical music and piano festival organized annually at the Louvre-Lens, co-produced by the ALVB association and the Louvre-Lens museum. Since its creation in 2016, this three-day festival invites internationally renowned pianists and young talents to perform in the museum's spaces: from the Stage to the Glass Pavilion, from the Gallery of Time to the hall and the media library. The festival combines piano recitals, chamber music, piano duets, and cross-disciplinary performances between art and music.

When the museum vibrates to the rhythm of the piano

Since 2016, the Muse & Piano festival has become one of the Louvre-Lens's flagship musical events. Co-produced by the ALVB association and the Louvre-Lens, in partnership with Yamaha, Scala Music, Radio Classique, and the circle of friends of ALVB, this three-day festival transforms the museum into an exceptional musical setting.

Exceptional artists in unique venues

The strength of Muse & Piano lies in the meeting between music and museum spaces. The concerts take place in emblematic locations of the Louvre-Lens:

  • The Stage: the museum's performance hall, hosting major evening recitals
  • The Glass Pavilion: a bright space offering an intimate setting for daytime recitals
  • The Gallery of Time: the famous 3,000 m² gallery where pianists play amidst works of art
  • The hall and the media library: spaces for surprise concerts and musical encounters

Ten years of exceptional pianists

In ten editions, Muse & Piano has hosted world-renowned pianists alongside promising young talents. The 2025 edition, celebrating the festival's 10th anniversary, brings together fourteen musicians including Florian Noack, Mari Kodama, the Agate Quartet, Michel Béroff, Marie-Josèphe Jude, Jodyline Gallavardin, and John Gade.

A varied program

The Muse & Piano program is not limited to classical piano recitals. The festival explores all facets of the piano:

  • Solo recitals: the great classics of the piano repertoire
  • Chamber music: piano accompanied by strings, winds, or voice
  • Piano duets: two pianists on two instruments for musical dialogues
  • Concert-lectures: moments of sharing between music and words

The Louvre-Lens, the festival's setting

Inaugurated in 2012, the Louvre-Lens is the Louvre Museum's outpost in the Pas-de-Calais mining basin. Its contemporary architecture designed by SANAA, bathed in natural light, offers an exceptional acoustic and aesthetic setting for the Muse & Piano concerts. The festival contributes to the museum's mission: making art and culture accessible to all.
