About Music Festival in Briançon
Every June 21, Briançon celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): Europe's highest city transforms Cité Vauban and its city center into open-air stages. From fortified squares to the streets of the historic district, conservatories, orchestras, local bands, and DJs perform for free from midday until the heart of the night. The day is entirely free and blends traditional, classical, jazz, rock, reggae, and electro music.
The Fête de la Musique in Briançon
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Briançon into an open stage every June 21. At the foot of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed ramparts, music freely takes over public spaces, from early afternoon until night, across all genres and for all audiences.
A festival between Cité Vauban and the city center
The program unfolds across two main areas. In Cité Vauban, Place du Général Éberlé and Place d'Armes host concerts, traditional music dances, and conservatory ensembles. In the city center, Place Paul Blein, Rue Centrale, Rue Général Colaud, Rue Général Barbot, and Place de l'Europe vibrate to the rhythm of jazz, rock, house, and DJ sets, while the Parc de la Schappe hosts a reggae and dub stage. Bars, restaurants, and associations complete this network of stages throughout the city.
You'll encounter ensembles from the Briançonnais conservatory — symphony orchestra, wind bands, saxophone quartets, and wind ensembles — as well as local bands and electro collectives and sound systems.

The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Briançon will take place on Sunday, June 21st, free of charge in the Cité Vauban and the city center. The Conservatoire du Briançonnais, brass bands, local groups, sound systems, and DJs will perform from midday until night on about ten open-air stages.

Cité Vauban — Place d'Armes
- Concert-show from 6 PM: junior orchestra, brass ensemble directed by Olivier Brisville, small wind ensemble by Damien Gaume, Orchestre symphonique du Briançonnais directed by Dominique Togni, vocal training students and dance class.
- Panorama Café: traditional music dance from 6 PM.
Cité Vauban — Place du Général Éberlé
Concert from 7 PM to midnight.
City Center — Place Paul Blein
Performance by saxophone ensembles (small wind ensemble, saxophone quartet, big band) from 12 PM to 2 PM.
City Center — Central Square
Concert by the string ensemble directed by Irmine Chaumont-Muller at 1 PM.
City Center — Rue Général Colaud
- Caps Duo (soul jazz) from 5 PM to 6:30 PM.
- Summer of Love (Californian rock) from 7 PM to 9:30 PM.
City Center — Rue Centrale
DJ Exodus from 8 PM to 1 AM.
City Center — Rue Général Barbot
Le Barboteur: musik'art (house / tech house) from 8 PM.
City Center — Place de l'Europe
DJ set from 8 PM to midnight.
Parc de la Schappe
From 5 PM: « Roots, rock & reggae » concert with the Kara'Basse Sound System, for the 10th anniversary of the Monet Crew association.
City bars, restaurants, and associations complete this program with concerts on terraces and in establishments.
