About Cinema and Reconciliation Festival

Every year during the All Saints' holidays, the Association Cinéma et Rencontre à la Salette (ACRS) brings together film lovers and visiting pilgrims in the cinema hall of the Notre-Dame de la Salette sanctuary, located at an altitude of 1800 metres between Grenoble and Gap. The association was founded in 2009 by sanctuary staff who were passionate about cinema and wanted to share their professional-grade screening room with passing cinephiles.

Over the course of four days, a dozen films are shown with three screenings per day, each followed by an introduction and a public debate. Every edition focuses on a specific theme, always linked to the concept of reconciliation that defines the sanctuary's message, and features a special documentary. Attendance has grown from around thirty spectators in the early days to over a thousand over the four-day event.

Practical information

Practical information — Cinema and Reconciliation Festival

The Notre-Dame de la Salette sanctuary is located in the Isère department, between Grenoble and Gap, at an altitude of 1800 metres. A pre-opening session may be held the day before in a municipal hall in Corps or La Salette-Fallavaux, allowing festival-goers to arrive before the official start. The association also encourages attendees to use the dedicated carpooling platform Travelling (travelling-cine.fr) to organize their travel to the sanctuary.

A festival born from a 450-seat cinema

The Notre-Dame de la Salette sanctuary provides the association with a 450-seat cinema hall. Since the first edition, the festival has held its screenings and debates there, occasionally hosting an off-site session in a nearby municipal hall in Corps or La Salette-Fallavaux.

An annual theme centered on reconciliation

Each year, the films selected by the association's programming committee explore a theme related to the sanctuary's message of reconciliation, such as "Meeting the Other," "Listening?" or more recently, "The Spirit of Sharing." A documentary is highlighted at each edition, often with the director in attendance whenever possible.

The members' choice

Every year, before the festival begins, association members vote for a film from a shortlist curated by the programming committee; the winning film is then screened during the four-day event.
