Every June 21, Cognac celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): local bands, amateur musicians, and artists freely take over the streets, squares, and terraces of the city center. Stages are set up everywhere, from open-air concerts to the Salle des Abattoirs, for a festive evening open to all and entirely free.
The Fête de la Musique in Cognac
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Cognac into an open-air stage every June 21. From the afternoon, music freely takes over public spaces: the city center streets, squares, and bar and restaurant terraces come alive with the sound of all genres, from early evening until late at night.

Usually, several stages are distributed throughout the streets of Cognac, complemented by concerts offered on the terraces and inside the city's bars and restaurants. The Salle des Abattoirs, an emblematic venue for contemporary music in Cognac, also participates in the celebration. Many local bands and regional talents perform there in a wide variety of styles.
