Every June 21, Grande-Synthe celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur musicians, music school students, and professional artists perform for free outdoors, traditionally on the place de l'Abbé-Pierre. Organized by the Ville de Grande-Synthe, the evening is entirely free and open to all, featuring all musical styles.

As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Grande-Synthe into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, in the evening and late into the night, across all genres and for all audiences.

The second largest commune in the Dunkirk urban area, Grande-Synthe usually organizes its Fête de la Musique outdoors on the place de l'Abbé-Pierre, the rallying point for the evening. Previous editions have featured the city's brass band, French and international variety groups, Caribbean and Afro music, marching bands, and DJ sets, often introduced by a musical parade that guides the public to the stage.
