Every June 21, Illkirch-Graffenstaden celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur musicians, local groups, and guest artists perform for free on several stages set up in the city center. Organized by the City of Illkirch-Graffenstaden, the evening is entirely free and blends many genres, from jazz to French chanson, world music, classical, and rock.
The Fête de la Musique in Illkirch-Graffenstaden
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Illkirch-Graffenstaden, the second largest commune in the Eurométropole de Strasbourg, into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces in the evening, across all genres and for all audiences.
Several stages in the city center
Usually, the City of Illkirch-Graffenstaden sets up half a dozen free stages in the city center, around the Illiade and the Vill'A, on forecourts and in gardens, to host both amateur musical practices and established groups. The program is deliberately eclectic: jazz, French chanson, world music, classical music, rock, and contemporary music coexist throughout the evening.
Participation each year involves a call for applications from the City to musicians and groups wishing to perform: the call for applications for the 2026 edition closed on April 24, 2026.
