Every June 21, Lons-le-Saunier celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): amateur musicians, bands, and groups of all styles play for free in the streets, bars, and cultural venues of the city. Organized by the City of Lons-le-Saunier, the evening is entirely free and open to all audiences.
The Fête de la Musique in Lons-le-Saunier
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the prefecture of Jura into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces from early evening until the heart of the night, in all genres and for all levels.
Several stages in the city center
The City of Lons-le-Saunier sets up several performance venues in the city center each year, including some new stages, and distributes groups according to musical styles. From rock to jazz, from chanson to world music, the call is open to all amateur artists, bands, and groups who wish to perform voluntarily, while bars and restaurants extend the celebration onto their terraces.
