About Music Festival in Nevers
Every June 21, Nevers celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): amateur musicians, music school students, and professional artists play for free in the streets, squares, bars, and cultural venues of the city center. Organized by the City of Nevers, the day is entirely free and open to all, from morning concerts at the cathedral to urban stages on the esplanade of the Palais ducal late into the night.

The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Nevers will take place on Sunday, June 21, free of charge throughout the city center. From daytime events at the cathedral and the Faïence Museum to urban stages on the Esplanade du Palais ducal late into the night, bars and cultural venues will host dozens of concerts. City center streets will be closed to traffic from 7 PM to 2 AM.

Overview of the stages announced for the 2026 edition, location by location:
Cathédrale Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte — 9:30 AM to 12 PM
Musical animation around the grand organ with Matthieu Germain, the instrument's organist, and his students, featuring a repertoire of sacred and secular works.
Musée de la Faïence et des Beaux-Arts — 10 AM to 1 PM and 2 PM to 6 PM
Free access to the collections, with a guided musical tour of the museum at 3:30 PM accompanied by local traditional music groups.
Le Lion d'Or — 2 place Mancini, from 6 PM
Two musical stages with Taylor's Room (rock'n'folk) and Aplysia (pop rock).
Le Belzébuth — 14 bis rue Fontmorigny, from 4 PM
Concerts from 4 PM with Yogui & Bilou, mindrepressband, chute_libre.nevers and liicoeurmx, followed at 9 PM by a Sound System evening in the street with Dawa Hifi and Rudd & Wood.
V and B — rue Saint-Martin, from 9 PM
Concert by the band On Thursdays.
Esplanade du Palais ducal — "Block Party 2", 6:30 PM to 3 AM
Intergenerational musical evening dedicated to urban music: open mic dance, concerts and DJ sets transform the esplanade into an open-air stage, with food truck and bar on site.
Place Guy Coquille — "L'orchestre d'harmonie de la ville de Nevers", 5:15 PM
The program includes excerpts from the Celtic Ritual program but also a brand new program with diverse aesthetics: oriental, Latin, funk… such as the pieces Al Gharb by Carlos Amarlinho, La Sierra Negra by Eduardo M. Brito, Funk Attack by Otto Schwarz or Cry of the Celts by Ronan Hardiman. The first part will be performed by Scherzo, the conservatory's second-cycle orchestra.
Other bars, terraces and associative initiatives complete this program throughout the city center.

The Fête de la Musique in Nevers
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms Nevers city center into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from morning activities until the heart of the night, in all genres and for all audiences. On the day of the event, city center streets are closed to traffic from 7 PM to 2 AM to make way for musicians and pedestrians.
A celebration throughout the city center
The festival unfolds from the squares and alleys of the medieval center to the city's bars and cultural venues. Concerts follow one another from early afternoon until late into the night, mixing rock, folk, pop, urban music, sound systems, and organ repertoire. Bars, associations, music schools, and heritage sites open their doors and terraces for an evening of discovery and conviviality.
