Free open-air concerts on June 21, 2026
Every June 21st, Pau celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): amateur musicians, conservatory students, and professional artists play for free in the streets, squares, and parks of the city center. From Square Georges V to Place Royale, passing through Parc Beaumont and Les Halles, the day is entirely free and blends all styles, from jazz to soul, brass to rock, and world music.
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Pau into an open-air stage every June 21st. Music freely takes over public spaces, from morning until the heart of the night, in all genres and for all audiences. In 2026, the national event falls on a Sunday, June 21st.
Concerts and street performances are spread across several emblematic locations in the center of Pau: Square Georges V, Place Royale, Parc Beaumont, Les Halles de Pau, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, and Place de la Déportation. The Conservatory and associated music schools are at the heart of the celebration, with ensembles bringing together more than 200 young musicians.
The program features a dialogue of aesthetics: marching bands and Brazilian batucadas in procession, jazz and brass, soul-funk, rock and pop-rock, electro, and world music. A musical and sensory morning is also offered for toddlers.
The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Pau will take place on Sunday, June 21st, free of charge throughout the city center. Dozens of concerts and street performances will enliven Square Georges V, Place Royale, Parc Beaumont, Les Halles, and the Musée des Beaux-Arts, from morning until night.
