About Researchers' Night

Once a year, the University of Pau and the Pays de l'Adour opens its laboratories to the public for a special evening: the Nuit de la recherche brings together dozens of researchers at the Château de Pau and the Parlement de Navarre to engage in open discussions through booths, round tables, and scientific games. The event is hosted by Science Odyssée and the Lacq Odyssée scientific culture center, with support from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region as part of the regional Nuit de la recherche program.

Researchers' Night — edition 2026

On September 25th, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, eighty researchers from the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour will open their work to the public at the Château de Pau and the Parlement de Navarre. Eighty stands will be spread across four hubs: memory and archaeology, artificial intelligence, gold panning in the Amazon, and mathematics. In addition, a series of lively highlights will feature an economics serious game, a discussion on earthquakes in the Béarn region, a water chemistry escape game, and a glass-blowing demonstration.

The 2026 Edition

The event is organized by the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour (UPPA) and Science Odyssée, the Lacq Odyssée scientific culture center, in partnership with the Château de Pau, the Parlement de Navarre, and the Danser sous la plume bookstore. It is part of the regional Nuit de la recherche program, supported by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, which brings together several cities across Nouvelle-Aquitaine during the same month.

The "grand lab" is spread across four transdisciplinary thematic hubs: Memory (analyzing traces of the past), Artificial Intelligence, Gold Panning in the Amazon, The World in Equations, and an "unclassifiable" hub. The highlights, each lasting 25 minutes, include an economics serious game, a discussion on natural and induced earthquakes in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, an escape game focused on water chemistry, a participatory technical glass-blowing demonstration, a game about extinct biodiversity, and a "thesis path" with doctoral students.

Admission is free; booking is recommended for the evening and for the specific highlights, with reservations opening on September 7th, 2026.
