Ambitious and friendly Baroque music festival
Since 2011, the Musiques Baroques à Savennières festival has offered the public a unique event where the most prestigious artists of baroque music highlight the landscapes and heritage of Savennières, a wine-growing village classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This ambitious and friendly festival has become a benchmark for early music in the Pays de la Loire region in just a few years.
For a week in late August, the festival unfolds a rich and varied program in remarkable heritage sites: churches, castles, gardens, and wine estates of Savennières. The concerts offer a wide panorama of baroque music: works for harpsichord, baroque violin, vocal ensembles, danced concerts, and participatory baroque balls. Internationally renowned artists, often from the greatest European baroque ensembles like the Orchestra of the Royal Opera of Versailles, perform alongside promising young talents.
The festival includes a baroque music academy that welcomes around twenty students from major European conservatories each year. Guided by the festival's guest artists, these young musicians participate in masterclasses and perform in dedicated concerts, offering the public a glimpse of the next generation of baroque music.
Eager to open baroque music to the widest audience, the festival offers varied and accessible formats: commented concerts, musical naps, interactive exhibitions, "unexpected" concerts in surprising locations, afternoons for children with treasure hunts and participatory shows, danced concerts, and baroque balls open to all. The Sunday market events complement this offering by creating a link between the festival and village life.
The 16th edition of the Musiques Baroques à Savennières festival takes place from August 22 to 28, 2026, on the theme « Convergences ». A week of baroque music concerts in the heritage sites of the Savennières vineyard, in Anjou, featuring renowned artists: Lucile Richardot and Jean-Luc Ho, recorder player Lucie Horsch, the ensemble Les Épopées directed by Stéphane Fuget, and the Anjou harpsichordist Justin Taylor.
From August 22 to 28, 2026, the Musiques Baroques à Savennières festival returns for its 16th edition, under the theme « Convergences », structured around three axes: women in music, the echo of Nature, and Dance and Music with popular roots.
