Muzikalad: The Rock Scene of Beaujolais

Born from the initiative of the conscripts of the class of '95 from Villefranche-sur-Saône, Muzikalad is a pop-rock music festival that has become, in just a few editions, an essential event in the Calade cultural landscape. Organized in partnership with the City of Villefranche-sur-Saône and CEC Sonorisation, this festival highlights the richness and vitality of the regional music scene in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

A Festival Rooted in the Conscripts Tradition

The conscripts, a popular tradition alive and well in Beaujolais and the Rhône region, are associations of people born in the same year who organize festive events throughout their lives. The class of '95 has made Muzikalad its flagship project, combining the convivial spirit of the conscripts with a commitment to quality musical programming. Members of the collective scout concerts and festivals in the region to discover the bands that will liven up each new edition.

L'Atelier, Musical Gem of Calade

The festival takes place at l'Atelier, a concert hall located in the heart of Villefranche-sur-Saône, in the Jardiniers district. This venue, known for its eclectic musical programming and warm atmosphere, offers an ideal setting for a human-sized festival. The intimate capacity allows for a rare closeness between artists and the audience, creating an electric atmosphere that is the signature of Muzikalad.

A Program Focused on Discovery

Each edition of Muzikalad features a lineup of three to four bands covering a wide spectrum of rock and pop: alternative rock, indie rock, pop-rock, festive rock, melodic punk... The festival favors bands from the Lyon and Rhône-Alpes regional scene, while occasionally opening its programming to national acts. The goal is twofold: to offer the Caladois public a quality musical event at an affordable price, and to give emerging bands a stage to showcase themselves.

A Festive and Convivial Evening

Muzikalad takes place over a single evening, usually a Saturday in March or April, in a popular festive atmosphere. The festival emphasizes conviviality, with an association bar and on-site catering. The event attracts a loyal audience, mixing families, students, and music lovers, in a spirit of popular celebration dear to the Beaujolais conscript tradition.

A Launchpad for the Regional Scene

Since its creation, Muzikalad has built a solid reputation among bands in the region. Being programmed at the festival has become a goal for many emerging acts, who see it as an opportunity to perform in front of an enthusiastic audience under professional technical conditions.
