Independent electronic music festival on the UNESCO World Heritage mining site of 9-9bis in Oignies
The NAME Festival (Nord Art Musique Electronique) is an electronic music festival created in 2005 by the Art Point M association. Since 2024, it has partnered with the 9-9bis site in Oignies for an open-air event in the heart of the UNESCO-listed Mining Basin. Oignies becomes the second European city, after Essen, to host an electro festival on a mining site. From noon to midnight, the best DJs on the international techno and house scene perform in this unique heritage setting.
The NAME Festival (Nord Art Musique Electronique) is an independent electronic music festival born in 2005 in the Lille metropolis, created by the Art Point M association at the initiative of the Nord Departmental Council. Since 2024, the festival has been developing an open-air version on the 9-9bis site in Oignies, in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Mining Basin.
Berlin-based DJ and producer Ellen Allien has been the godmother of the festival since its creation in 2005. She performs at every edition, symbolizing the strong link between NAME and the international techno scene.
The open-air format at 9-9bis offers 12 hours of music from noon to midnight, in an exceptional heritage setting. The 9-9bis site, a former mining pit converted into a cultural center, houses the Métaphone, a concert hall with an interactive and sound-reactive facade. Oignies is thus the second European city, after Zollverein in Essen (Germany), to host an electro festival on a mining site.
The NAME Festival features the best artists from the techno, house, trance, and experimental electronic music scene. Among the artists who have participated in the festival are 999999999, Adiel, Ellen Allien, Jennifer Cardini, Kobosil, Âme, Peggy Gou, and many emerging talents from the European scene.
The day after the festival, a free event is offered with music and deckchairs, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere on the 9-9bis site.
NAME Festival will return in May 2026 to 9-9bis in Oignies for another weekend of open-air electronic music on the UNESCO mining site.
